XAVIER-PLATFORM USE

Potential use of the Xavier-Platform: Electrodes are placed in the rat’s hippocampus to detect neuron activity (middle). This activity is the most robust and reliable neural signal in the brain and can be detected with the aid of a hyperdrive (bottom left). These signals are wirelessly transmitted to the XAVIER-platform to decode their pattern and determine the target location that the animal intends (Top). The animal will be required to use its pre-established mental map (green cloud bubble) of a given environment to maneuver a laser beam into rewarded locations using our XAVIER-actuator (bottom right). Rewards consist of either electrical stimulation to the brains pleasure center or food.
